“O God, we give glory to you all day long and constantly praise your name.”
Psalm 44:8

Constantly, now I think that’s tough, but lets live it this week the best we can.

Dont look back

August 10th, 2007

Something that has just been popping out at me all the time are these verses and songs about the end times, weather or not that is fitting for today’s day and age, I couldn’t tell ya, I’m not about to go “reading signs” and making predictions… but it was put on my heart to write about this passage I came across the other day.

Luke 17:30-33 (as found in the New Living Translation)
Jesus is speaking here
“Yes it will be business as usual’ right up to the hour when the Son of Man [Jesus] returns. On that day a person outside the house must not go into the house to pack. A person in the field must not return to town. Remember what happened to Lot’s wife! Whoever clings to this life shall lose it, and whoever looses this life will save it.”

Now this is how the passage speaks to me, and I guess its just one way to interpret it, so if you have a different interpretation I encourage you to comment.

For me, what I see here is Jesus telling us to be ready at all times, and to not have such a big need for the things in our everyday life. This passage shows us that there will be a short amount of time for us to either hesitate and turn back, or to fully be ready and go to heaven with Christ. Really think about it, do you think you would hesitate to go back and see your family if you were say driving on the freeway, or at school, or work? Would you try to go to a church? Or anywhere else that you feel most comfortable… home?
This verse has really put me in my place, because often times I find myself clinging to certain things in the world that make me feel most comfortable. This passage is an inspiration to me to be comfortable wherever I am, knowing that if it were my time to go I should be ready to leave without hesitation. There is more than just this life and just this world, so be excited to see the place in heaven that GOD has prepared for us. Think of all the bad here on earth — now think of all the good and beautiful things, times that good by about 1000, subtract all the bad, and you got what is prepared for you in heaven.

peace and God bless
